Project Overview

Beach Freak II advances the original Beach Freak rescue tool with a focus on improved ergonomics and the ability for a single rescuer to assist multiple people during a water rescue. The refined design builds on the original product's approach to flotation and victim handling, further developing the form around the practical demands of rescue situations.

Both Beach Freak generations provide 30โ€“40% greater buoyancy than traditional rescue tubes. The integrated passive restraint system helps secure a person in distress without fully tying them up, while helping maintain separation between the victim and rescuer to reduce dangerous pulling during a rescue. Beach Freak II builds on this foundation with design refinements intended to make the device more adaptable to complex rescue scenarios.

I designed the product and its visual identity, developing the Beach Freak II logo in two colorways. I am the sole inventor named on U.S. Patent D1,125,429 S, granted for the rescue buoy design.
